(Aug. 29, 2016) – The Boston Breakers announced today the signing of defender Kylie Strom. Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Endicott, N.Y. native was called up from the Boston Breakers Reserves to the pro team on July 15, 2016, and made her professional debut July 17. She came on in the 60th minute in a 3-2 loss to Sky Blue FC at home. She has two appearances on the season for the Breakers. Her second came July 31 when she entered the match against the Orlando Pride in the 79th minute. The Breakers went on to beat the Pride, 1-0.

“Kylie has worked incredibly hard over the course of the season. She is developing into a good versatile soccer player,” Boston Breakers head coach Matt Beard said. “She is a popular member of the squad, and it just shows if you continue to work hard, anything can happen.”

Strom, 24, starred for Boston University from 2010 through 2013. She garnered several honors for the Terriers, including a Patriot League All-Tournament Team nod as a senior in 2013. She was also named to the America East All-Conference First Team in 2012 and to the 2010 America East All-Rookie Team and AE All-Championship Team.

In four years at Boston University, Strom appeared in 86 games for the Terriers. She scored 14 goals and tallied 17 assists during her college career, including eight goals as a sophomore in 2011, which ranked her second on the team.

Strom was called up the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team in June 2014, the same summer she made her debut for the Boston Breakers Reserves in the Women’s Premier Soccer League. She played for the Boston Breakers College Academy team in 2013.

“Kylie being signed is another great testament to our Reserve team program and our ability to develop players who are on the bubble of becoming a pro player,” Boston Breakers general manager Lee Billiard said. “Kylie has worked very hard in the Reserve program, and Matt has been able to bring her into the pro team environment where she has continued her progress. This makes Kylie the third Breakers Reserve team player signed to a Breakers pro contract in the last two years.”

Strom joins current Breakers defender Rachel Wood and former Breakers midfielder Suzane Pires as players who earned a contract with the Breakers professional team after beginning with the Reserves. In 2015, Strom went to Germany and played in the 2. Bundelisga for FFC Frankfurt II before returning to the Breakers Reserves in 2016.

“To be involved with the club for several years and to now officially become a Breaker is a dream come true,” Strom said. “I'm so grateful to be a part of this team and can't wait to finish the season strongly with them.”

The Boston Breakers play at home Wednesday, Aug. 31, against the Houston Dash. Tickets can be purchased by visiting or by calling 617-945-1704.
