(Nov. 12, 2014) - The Boston Breakers announced today the club has signed Brazilian forward Andressa Alves da Silva. Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A rising star on the Brazilian Women’s National Team, Andressa scored three goals in September’s Women's Copa America. Brazil won the tournament and in so doing qualified for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics.

Most recently, the 22-year-old played for Sao Jose in Brazil’s top-flight professional league. With Sao Jose, Andressa won the 2014 Campeonato Paulista de Futebol Feminino, 2014 Copa do Brasil Feminino, and the 2013 Copa Libertadores Femenina.

“Andressa is a gifted player, has tremendous technical ability, and is a goal scorer,” Boston Breakers general manager Lee Billiard said. “She is going to be a lot of fun to watch, and a problem to deal with for opposing teams. Adding a player of her caliber at such a young age is a big signing for us as part of this rebuild. I am pleased with how the roster is shaping up and the direction we are heading.”

On June 19, 2013, Andressa scored her first goal for the full Brazilian Women’s National Team in a 1-1 tie against Sweden. Her three goals at the 2014 Copa America ranked her as the third highest goal scorer in the tournament.

Andressa has experience on the U-20 level, having played for Brazil in both the 2010 and 2012 U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She made her U-20 debut at the age of 17, playing in a 1-0 loss to North Korea in the 2010 U-20 World Cup in Germany.
