Boston Breakers midfielder Heather O’Reilly was voted the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the media for Week 3 of the 2013 NWSL season.

O’Reilly, 28, scored both goals for the Boston Breakers in a 2-1 victory over the Western New York Flash on Saturday at Shalen’s Stadium in Rochester, N.Y.

"I’m super excited. I’m happy for the team’s performance and the win," O’Reilly said. "To win on the road in this league is tough. I’m excited about where this team is at right now. We’ve seen a lot of growth in the team, and we’re a lot more comfortable."

The East Brunswick, N.J. native canceled out Flash forward Samantha Kerr’s opening goal to tie the game at 1-1 in the 16th minute before Lianne Sanderson set her up for the game-winning score in the 83rd minute. O’Reilly played all 90 minutes and finished with five shots (all on goal) as well as two fouls suffered.

All seven of her shots in two games this season have been on target to tie her with Portland Thorns FC forward and fellow U.S. international Alex Morgan for the league lead in shots on goal.

The Boston Breakers will host the Chicago Red Stars on Saturday, May 4 at 6 p.m. ET at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville, Mass.

The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a selection of journalists that cover the league on a consistent basis.
