The Breakers are coming off of a close loss to Sky Blue FC at home on July 17. Boston was able to create numerous scoring chances and tallied two goals against Sky Blue FC in the 3-2 defeat. In their second and final match against Sky Blue FC, the Breakers made a late offensive push to close the gap by one goal.

Boston’s Angela Salem made quick work and scored for the Breakers in the first five minutes, however, Sky Blue FC countered with three unanswered goals. In the 85th minute, Breakers defender Julie King scored off a great service from Louise Schillgard to pull the Breakers within one goal.

Boston faces the Orlando Pride (6-8-0) for the second time in just under a month. In their inaugural matchup, the Breakers took an early lead, courtesy of a goal from Mollie Pathman, but the Pride scored twice in the final minutes to take the win.

Orlando will enter Sunday’s match without the week of rest that Boston had. Instead, the Pride are coming off a 5-2 loss to Seattle Reign FC last Sunday. Jasmyne Spencer and Kristen Edmonds tallied the goals for the Pride. Seattle’s offense proved to much to handle for the Pride, however, as they defeated Orlando by three goals. Boston will be looking to create multiple offensive chances against the newcomers of the NWSL and to level the series at one apiece.

“We are determined to go into the break on a high and with three points,” Boston Breakers head coach Matt Beard said. “How our last game finished up in Orlando still hurts us, and we want to put that night right. We also know it's a must-win game for us.”

The Breakers are back in action against FC Kansas City at Swope Soccer Village on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 6 p.m. ET. Boston then returns home to Jordan Field to face the Houston Dash on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 8 p.m., ET. Tickets can be purchased by calling 617-945-1704 or by visiting breakerstickets.com.
