(Sept. 2, 2017) — The Boston Breakers fell to the Orlando Pride, 4-2, on Saturday night at Orlando City Soccer Stadium. The Breakers got both goals in the second half, one each from Rosie White and Julie King.

Orlando (10-6-5) pressured Boston early and had a close chance to score in the second minute. Alex Morgan received a cross from Camila and immediately looked to shoot, but Breakers goalkeeper Abby Smith tipped it over the crossbar.

The Pride made a run up the sideline when Chioma Ubogagu slid the ball to the feet of Morgan in the eighth minute, but Smith cleared the ball away from goal. However, Rachel Hill gathered the rebound right in front to score the first of the night. Hill made it a 2-0 game in the 15th minute, off an assist from Morgan.

Orlando looked to further extend its lead six minutes later when Morgan received a pass from Camila, but Smith came off her line to block the shot. She ended the half with two saves.

The Breakers (3-11-7) saw their first attempt on target in the 28th minute stopped by Pride goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris. White tried to take a shot, but Harris deflected the ball out for a corner. Then, Brooke Elby crossed the ball into the box and Amanda Frisbie got a foot under the ball, but Harris made the save.

The Pride made the last run of the first 45 minutes as Morgan again found Hill who sprinted up the field, but Allysha Chapman slid to clear the ball away.

The Breakers came back in the second half looking to score and did just that in the 49th minute. Margaret Purce sent a cross to the back post and Frisbie picked the ball up and immediately placed it at the feet of White with a low pass. White shot the ball right away, bringing the score to 2-1.

Two minutes later, Morgan had a chance to score after she collected a pass from Marta in front of the goal, but the shot went off the far post.

In the 67th minute, Ubogagu found Marta, who scored to make it a 3-1 game in favor of the hosts.

The Pride maintained their momentum, and 10 minutes later Ubogagu scored a goal of her own after she took off running and dodged the defenders to create space. She sent the ball across the net and it hit off the post, but deflected to the back of the goal.

The Breakers got one back late. Following a corner kick taken by Adriana Leon, King was placed right in front of the net and headed the ball into the corner to give Boston two goals on the night and end the game at 4-2.

The Breakers home Sept. 10 to face Portland Thorns FC (6 p.m. ET). Tickets to all Boston Breakers home games are available by calling 617-945-1704 or by visiting breakerstickets.com. Season tickets for the 2018 season are currently on sale and can be purchased by visiting breakerstickets.com.

Notes: Defender Amanda Frisbie registered her first assist for the Breakers, setting up Rosie White’s goal in the 49th minute… Defender and captain Julie King scored her first goal of the season … Rosie White scored her fourth goal of the year. That ties her for second on the team with Natasha Dowie.
