(Feb. 22, 2017) – The Boston Breakers announced today that defender Whitney Engen will not return to the club in 2017.
Engen, 29, started all 14 games she appeared in for the Breakers in 2016. She played 1,260 minutes, scoring one goal and adding one assist. Prior to coming to Boston, Engen played in 23 games combined for the Western New York Flash and Houston Dash. Capped 40 times by the U.S. Women’s National Team, Engen was part of the U.S. side that won the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
“It’s a shame to lose a player of Whitney's caliber, but we respect how she feels and wish her all luck in the world for her next venture,” Boston Breakers head coach Matt Beard said.
