Breakers acquire draft picks, international roster spot from Chicago in exchange for Stephanie McCaffrey

(July 22, 2016) - The Boston Breakers announced today that they have acquired the two highest second-round draft picks, a third-round draft pick, and a fourth-round draft pick, all in the 2017 NWSL College Draft, and an international roster spot for 2017 from the Chicago Red Stars in exchange for forward Stephanie McCaffrey.

WATERTOWN, Mass. (July 22, 2016) - The Boston Breakers announced today that they have acquired the two highest second-round draft picks, a third-round draft pick, and a fourth-round draft pick, all in the 2017 NWSL College Draft, and an international roster spot for 2017 from the Chicago Red Stars in exchange for forward Stephanie McCaffrey.
 
McCaffrey, 23, made 31 appearances (27 starts) over two seasons with the Breakers. She scored three goals and tallied three assists, all coming in her rookie season of 2015. The former Boston College star appeared in 12 games (10 starts) in 2016. 

"We are thankful to Stephanie for her contributions as a Boston Breaker," said Boston Breakers general manager Lee Billiard. "Both parties feel the time is right to part ways and we wish Steph the very best in Chicago and her continued career."

The No. 5 overall selection in the 2015 NWSL College Draft by the Chicago Red Stars, McCaffrey was later acquired for Boston’s No. 9 and No 11 draft picks in the 2015 draft.
