Reeves netted the first hat trick of the 2014 NWSL season and added an assist to lead the Breakers to a 4-1 victory Wednesday over Portland Thorns FC at Harvard Stadium.
(June 3, 2014) - Boston Breakers forward Jazmine Reeves has been voted the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the media for Week 8 of the 2014 NWSL season.

Reeves, 22, netted the first hat trick of the 2014 NWSL season and added an assist to lead the Breakers to a 4-1 victory Wednesday over Portland Thorns FC at Harvard Stadium. Reeves also came on as a second-half substitute to play the final 30 minutes of Boston’s 3-2 home defeat to the Washington Spirit on Sunday.
The Dover, Del. native assisted on a goal by forward Nkem Ezurike in the 2nd minute against the Thorns when she took the ball and raced to the end line before delivering a sharp, right-footed cross into the box that was turned in by the Canada international. (Assist #1 – Watch Highlights)
In the 25th minute, Reeves netted the first goal of her NWSL career when she pounced on a rebound while following up on a shot by forward Courtney Jones and slotted past Thorns goalkeeper Nadine Angerer from 10 yards. (Goal #1 – Watch Highlights)
In the 45th minute, the Virginia Tech product scored her second goal of the game with a skillful chip over an onrushing Angerer from just inside the 18-yard box after she was played in on the break by a pass from Jones. (Goal #2 – Watch Highlights)
Reeves then completed her hat trick with her third goal of the game in the 59th minute when she used her chest to bring down a cross from midfielder Maddy Evans before cutting inside a defender and curling a left-footed shot just inside the far post. (Goal #3 – Watch Highlights)
This marks the second time this season and sixth-time overall a Boston Breakers player has been voted NWSL Player of the Week. Forward Lianne Sanderson received the award in Week 3 of this season; while Sanderson, Heather O’Reilly and Sydney Leroux (twice) were recognized with the honor in 2013.
The Boston Breakers will return to action Saturday, June 7, at 8 p.m. ET against FC Kansas City at Verizon Wireless Field in Kansas City, Mo.
