Vote each home game this year for the Boston Breakers Player of the Game, Sponsored by Steward Health Care

(April 25, 2017) - The Boston Breakers title sponsor, Steward Health Care, is once again giving Breakers fans a chance to vote for the Player of the Game for all 12 Breakers home games in 2017.

Fans can vote on Twitter using the hashtag #StewardMVP up until the 85th minute of every home match. The player that receives the most votes will be named Steward Health Cares Player of the Game.

Steward Health Care will provide the Player of the Game with $1,000 to donate to a charity of their choice.

Below is the list of players who have won the award this season and the charities they have selected to make the $1,000 donation.

Home Game 1 – Breakers vs. Sky Blue FC (April 23, 2017)

Abby Smith – The second-year Breaker earned her first professional win and shutout, stoppng four shots in a 1-0 victory over Sky Blue FC. On behalf of Smith, Steward donated $500 to two charities of her choice.


Home Game 2 – Breakers vs. Seattle Reign FC (April 29, 2017)

Adriana Leon – The Canadian forward scored a goal and notched two assists, factoring into all three Breakers goals in a 3-0 win over Seattle Reign FC. Leon also earned NWSL Player of the Week honors. On behalf of Leon, Steward donated $500 to two charities of her choice.


Home Game 3 – Breakers vs. North Carolina Courage (May 7, 2017)

Angela Salem – The holding midfielder had a strong game defending, and prevented several goal-scoring opportunities, including one early on as she made a sliding save on a shot headed on target. On behalf of Salem, Steward donated $500 to two charities of her choice.


Home Game 4 – Breakers vs. Portland Thorns FC (May 19, 2017)

Natasha Dowie - Dowie had a goal and an assisst in Boston's 2-2 draw against the Portland Thorns. She factored into both goals as Boston extended its unbeaten streak to two. On behalf of Dowie, Steward donated $500 to two charities of her choice.


Home Game 5 – Breakers vs. North Carolina Courage (June 24, 2017)

Julie King - The veteran captain had a strong game defensively, shutting down numerous attacks by the first-place Courage in a 1-0 loss. On behalf of King, Steward donated $500 to two charities of her choice.


Home Game 6 – Breakers vs. Washington Spirit (July 1 2017)

Megan Oyster - The first-year Breakers defender was instrumental on the back line, helping the Breakers secure a 1-0 victory over the Washington Spirit. On behalf of Oyster, Steward donated $500 to two charities of her choice.


Home Game 7 - Breakers vs. Chicago Red Stars (July 7, 2017)

Sammy Jo Prudhomme - The rookie goalkeeper made a career-high eight saves, became the first Breakers keeper in NWSL history to record three straight shutouts, and set the single-season shutout streak in the process. On behalf of Prudhomme, Steward donated $500 to two charities of her choice.
