(March 7, 2017) – The Boston Breakers announced today that the team has signed defender Megan Oyster for 2017 and 2018. Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Naperville, Ill native recently returned from a stint in Australia’s W-League with the Newcastle Jets. She scored one goal in 12 appearances for the Jets and was named to the W-League Team of the Season.
“I'm delighted Megan has signed a new contract. She is player that I have admired for a few years now, and she will play a big part for Boston Breakers in the years to come,” Boston Breakers head coach Matt Beard said.
The No. 13 pick in the 2015 NWSL College Draft, Oyster played two seasons for the Washington Spirit. She started all 25 games she appeared in, logging 3,140 minutes. She was acquired by the Breakers from Washington via trade in November 2016.
A four-year star at UCLA, Oyster helped the Bruins win the 2013 NCAA National Championship. She assisted on the game-winning goal in overtime of the championship game against Florida State.
